We are a Pop-Up book and physical media shop. The books we stock are socially progressive, inclusive, and informative. Whether you’re looking for bite-sized books to expand your knowledge, to cookbooks, fiction, colouring books and more, you can find it all at Far Out. We’re committed to creating space that is inclusive for everyone, online or in person. So when we say ‘welcome’, we really mean it.
At Far Out, we are huge supporters of up-cycling and not letting things go to waste. Over the last 20/30 years, most media has become digitised, meaning many physical copies end up being thrown away. We want to change this - by bringing about a new appreciation for physical media and an awareness of the ecological impacts. We stock a broad range - anything from second hand books, to fashion, to vinyl, to video games - it fully depends what we’ve found!
ouR MISSION
Our dream would be to have premises, and be a hybrid shop/cafe/community space. We’d love to have a wide, affordable second hand range of media, as well as new books. We care deeply about building community, and would love to have a space where we can host book clubs, live music, art fairs, clothes swaps…you name it! We want to create a place that feels welcoming and inclusive to all.
SOCIALLY PROGRESSIVE?
Our books cover a wide range of political topics, largely left-wing thoughts and ideas surrounding systematic and current issues. We know these can be pretty in depth topics and it can be off putting and overwhelming when there’s so much information out there, but we want our books to be accessible for everyone. While some of our books are more in depth, we stock plenty of books that are easy to read and just as informative. We encourage reading and sharing ideas, so whether you know loads or nothing at all, you are included and welcomed at Far Out
